Hunting Lodge Gurganus Guide Service Information Where We Hunt We hunt near Lake Mattamuskeet in Hyde County, NC. We hunt on flooded grain fields and duck impoundments. We also guide open water hunts. Our Great Staff Our service is staffed by experienced Hyde County natives who truly know the land.  Brett Mason is the head guide, and he knows the land like the back of his hand. We have at least six guides at all times, and we guarantee that your hunting party will have its own guide. Our Duck Impoundments We at the Gurganus Guide Service drain the water out of the fields, then we take soil samples.  These soil samples inform us of the required amounts of fertilizer and lime to place into the land.  Once fertilized, the land gets plowed and ready to plant.  We currently plant corn, soybean, grain solgem and millet crops.  All hunting guides take pride, and put in countless hours of hard work in our duck impoundment and every aspect of the Gurganus Guide Service. What We Do We can help you find tundra swan and many kinds of ducks. We specialize in full-day hunts, because we want you to get your money's worth. We provide the decoys, too. Our Blinds Our blinds are 12 feet long and 4 feet wide. We can also provide accessible blinds for older or disabled hunters. Young Hunters We all started hunting when we were children, so we welcome young hunters! Strong believers in gun safety, and of educating our youth on the pleasures of hunting.   Party Size We can guide up to 24 hunters per day.
